From working in news product for the past three years, I have developed a passion for UX design and lead every project from a design-thinking standpoint with the aspiration to make journalism and storytelling more inclusive and innovative.
Technical.ly- Site Redesign

In mid-2022, our product team at Technical.ly began redesigning and rebranding our entire website. We focused on fostering deeper connections with our audiences and improving overall site functionality.
The redesign launched in January 2023
As the product manager of this project, I led and oversaw the design phase, development phase, and execution of this project. I took on this project from a design-thinking perspective, holding user experience and design as a top priority. I also set strategies for optimizing our SEO, site speed, accessibility, and newsroom processes as a part of this project.
Since the launch, we’ve seen a significant increase in pageviews across our site and new newsletter subscribers.
Pass the Mic: News Content Innovation Product Intern

“Pass the Mic — jointly funded by Gannett Co. Inc., and the Google News Initiative — is a database and messaging tool that connects reporters with sources from underrepresented communities including people of color, people who are LGBTQ+, women, people who are non-binary and people with disabilities.”
Product set to launch Spring 2022
As an intern on this project, I’ve assisted in the development and product management of this initiative, collaborated with development and legal teams, and also designed wireframes and prototypes for potential future features.

As an extension of our DE&I efforts, our team also has been working with a few newsrooms to implement source auditing into their workflows. Check out the Souce Auditing Toolkit I developed and designed to help guide them through it.
Content Diversity Dashboard: News Content Innovation Product Intern

“The CDD is a data and analytics tool that maps content to provide insight into how a newsroom covers their community. We leverage the current tagging system in Presto to add geography tags to content. This allows us to compile data on which communities are covered and how they’re covered as well as see gaps in coverage and which neighborhoods are underrepresented.”
This product launched internally to Gannett newsrooms in Dec 2021
As an intern, I’ve assisted in the product management of this tool, worked alongside the development team to design and improve its functionality, developed newsroom maps, and assisted in training newsrooms on using the tool.
DataDesk, NewsCatalyst: Data Journalist

DataDesk cleaned and analyzed Pennsylvania state campaign finance data in order to make the data more comprehensible for journalists to use in their stories.
My involvement on this project was from May 2020 to June 2021.
As a data journalist on this project, I used R programming for data cleaning, analysis, and web scraping for Pennsylvania state campaign finance, lobbying, and social media ad data. I also collaborated with local news outlets, such as Spotlight PA, to clean and analyze data for potential stories and make comprehensible data reports for journalists as well as create data visualization using Rstudio and Flourish.
